Where we began …
History Maker Foundation would not have begun had it not been for Joey Pancaldi, whose life came to an end in 2008 at Glen Coe Scotland at the age of 21.
The Pancaldi family started collecting donations at Joey’s funeral which were passed on to a charity based in Scotland called Reality Adventures. This supported disadvantaged young people in the form of outdoor adventure holidays – a project that Joey had been involved with. Sadly Reality Adventures closed in March 2013 after many years of excellent work.
Partnering in the adventure of life …
History Maker Foundation also supports Stevenson Adventures, which takes young people with difficult backgrounds and those who have suffered a bereavement on an adventure trail of wild camping and hiking in Scotland.
In recent years we have established links in South Africa with those who are working with young people from the townships and this has become our major concern and thrust as a charity. Find out more about the work of Ikasi Youth Everyday Heros here.
People making history …
History Maker Foundation has been delighted to support a number of individuals who have volunteered to give their time to help others make history:
- 2012 saw Mark and Nay Snelling volunteer for History Maker Foundation for 3 months in a township school, Ikhaya, in Hout Bay, South Africa, where a high proportion of children are disadvantaged in every way possible.
- In 2013 Charity Rose Pancaldi supported a small organisation for 3 months in the same township known as Mandela Park, that uplifts teenagers many of whom have lost family members.
